The mindful awareness and the relaxation cultivated in yoga can be great in starting points to begin your journey with meditation, an ancient Buddhist practice with undeniable holistic benefits. Meditation helps the practitioner reach states of self awareness, calming of the mind and emotions for increased cognitive clarity . With regular practice it can become a very natural state of mind. The ability to become grounded through mindfulness meditation, especially in the midst of stress, can have invaluable benefits in improving your quality of life and wellbeing. Its effects have been widely studied. According to Khoury, Lecomte and Fortin, mindfulness-based therapies have been found to be moderately effective, superior to some treatments such as psychoeducation, supportive therapy, relaxation, imagery, and art-therapy.
Based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy our life coaching sessions will help you identify simple achievable actions to move you towards a healthier happier you. By using a range of coaching techniques we will uncover the areas of your life that may benefit from adjustment and plan ways in which to bring about those changes. This is the perfect complement for the mindfulness meditation sessions, to enhance your self awareness and empower you to make positive changes.
(Water Shiatsu) began in 1980 with Harold Dull. He supported people in the warm pool whilst applying the stretches and principles of Zen Shiatsu. Floating takes weight off the vertebrae, and the resistance of the water as the body is moved in slow twists and pulls allows the spine to be manipulated in ways impossible on land. As well as the physical benefits of this, the therapy can allow repressed emotions to surface and be released. At the end of a Watsu session, many people report that they feel more relaxed than ever before.
The connection with the breath which you will be practising on the retreat through mindfulness meditation and yoga is also a key element of Zen Shiatsu. Incorporating this into your Watsu session will bring another dimension to your treatment.
